Our Kitah Alef and Kitah Dalet classes made challah covers today in Michelle Benitez's art class. On the right you can see some Kitah Dalet students hard at work. I saw designs with colors, and with Jewish stars. Some students wrote "yum, yum." When asked why we cover the challah, Max Brown suggested that it's because we don't want to eat it too soon. What do you think? Our PreK class made their own Torah scrolls. They were so proud to unroll them and show them to me! Thank you to Ilana Cohen. We love our new PreK class!
On the right, Piotr Stasiak, a visitor from the Jewish community in Poland, visits our Kitah Vav class. He talked about discovering his Jewish roots and the rebuilding of a Jewish community in Poland. We learned that people who discover that they have a Jewish background are often relieved to discover their hidden past. 
The Kitah Zayin class was singing "Hallelujah" with ruach (spirit) when I visited today. Thanks to Josh Bloch who is joining Cantor Buch on the drum this year!
Our teen class is small, but mighty! When I visited today, they were discussing different ideas of God. Which version of God to you relate to the most: God the Creator, God the destroyer, Jealous God, God the warrior, God the healer, God the redeemer, Forgiving God, God the punisher, God that dwells in one place, or none of these? Everyone had a different answer. What does that teach us about God?Thank you Jeremy Schiff for getting our students to think about the complexity of the God concept from new perspectives.
