Our Kitah Heh class had an exciting video conference with their partner Kitah Heh class in Israel. Each class sang a song for the other, shared some information about their schools and then asked questions. The questions from each side gave opportunities for the students on the other side to share something about themselves. Our students were energized learning how many things in common they have with the students in Israel. Among other things, they both like to play sports, play with their pets and play video games! In half an hour, the Jewish community in Israel came a lot closer to these students.
Our Kitah Gimmel class took a short class trip to the social hall where TBI was hosting the Jewish Federation's Annual Meeting where their teacher, Linda Elyad was singing with the Kol HaEmek choir. The students stood in the back for three songs, listening to the music, and seeing their own teacher be a part of Jewish life in our community.
It's great when we can give our students role models and experiences that demonstrate that being Jewish connects them to something bigger than what they do at home or in the classroom!
